Screencasting General Tips
- For the Mac use Safari as Chrome and Java dont work well together
- Use the free version of Screeccast-o-matic http://www.screencast-o-matic.com/screen_recorder [you should already have your account set up from Day 1]
- If you're having trouble using the app directly from the browser download it onto your computer and when you launch it, it will connect directly to the web
- Try creating a screencast to present the examples that you found for your chapter [i.e. you could have your review and links here in this page ready to go, set up the screencast and then use this page to connect to the other pages. Alternatively you could do what I did in the video and have the different exemplar sites ready to go in other tabs and just click to each one]
- When you are done your screencast capture upload to YouTube and select Private [as the pro version costs money] and then change the access to Unlisted from YouTube
- You can get the link or embed code from YouTube once your video has uploaded.

ReplyDeleteChapter 8 Podcasting, video and screencasting, and live streaming:
Podcasting: amateur radio (anyone can record and then post online). Students can post their own about social subjects/academic subjects/etc. Teachers can use within their subjects to expand information beyond the classroom. Record, upload, and post podcasts.
Video publishing: often free (youtube). Digital storytelling, so preparation is needed. Powerpoints/video tape student work, etc.
Screencasting: add to lessons with audio+what you do on the computer.
Live streaming: create tv shows/broadcast them online (TEDtalks?)
Examples:
Teaching Patterns to Preschoolers
Transition Plan Example
Google Spreadsheet How-to for Data Collection

ReplyDeleteIn case you really want my chapter notes, also:
ReplyDeleteHERE THEY ARE
I found this chapter to be a fun read. I really enjoyed learning all the ways that one can utilize the web in the form of videos. I know I always enjoyed when we watched videos in class during school and at home my friends and I would record ourselves all the time, so to bring those two aspects together in a learning environment I think is awesome. I really like how the book walks you through the different options and teaches you how to do them, this came in very useful (as well as the presentation in class) when it came time for me to post my video. I know I will be wanting to use these techniques in my own classroom.
ReplyDeleteWhile the relationship of stocks to the dollar has not always been ""down dollar = up stocks"" it has been this year. And in this market, that

At times it has been that a strong dollar meant a strong America and a strong economy. All rules of logic are gone due to the oligarchs
running the government.
