How did I create this presentation? I started in Drive, selected Create Presentation, and created my slides. When I was done, I selected File - Publish it to the Web, chose my viewing options, copied the Embed code, came to this page and went into HTML mode, then pasted in the code. Voila!

ReplyDeleteWhat it was like to teach/learn online like we did (my thoughts):
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed the 2nd part of our time together (when we were talking together). It was great to get used to a new format and interface, and I felt like I learned just as much as I would have in person. I would rather have done the first portion of the class (making our proposal) in person, as I had several questions, and would rather have been able to ask questions as I went, rather than guessing along the way and fixing later. Overall, a great experience!
Thanks for your response Elizabeth. I do agree that it is more personal to be able to meet synchronously online rather than doing purely asynchronous independent work [which is common in many online courses - e.g. threaded discussion activities].
DeleteFrom an educational, or design, standpoint it is important to think about which modalities [F2F, online asynchronous, online synchronous, fully online] will work best for the task at hand. If I'm hearing your correctly I think you're saying that you would have preferred if I had started live to go over the proposal activity, then let you all go off to work independently, and then regroup live again to continue on to the live second part of the lesson. That is certainly a solid approach and a benefit of that, aside from just checking in, is to ensure that everyone knows what they are doing. In this case, I elected to have you get straight to things on your own.
As you can imagine, there are always many possibilities - whether it be in a F2F or online environment. My hope today was to give you a taste of one model.
Anita- Exactly! This whole course has felt like great exposure to many models of technology, this being one of them.
