My lesson is using the app Mad Libs! for the students to recognize and be able to identify the parts of speech. This is a fun game that is really easy and fun to use on the iPad/iPhone. One aspect that I really wanted to incorporate for this lesson was the fact that as a teacher, we will not always be able to have these devices at our fingertips. The nice thing about this free app is you could open it up to your students and allow them to use their iPhones or in a worse case scenario, you can print out copies of Mad Libs for your students to use.
The first part of my lesson will also use the reader apps and displaying a page from a book onto the screen. The students will highlight the different parts of speech in an Adobe type reader.
Screen shots of filling out Mad Libs in the app:
having to type a part of speech
After you type in the part of speech they asked for
